Pedestal tables are popular now because of the traditional look and sturdy design that suits many homes. With their vertical profile, they can accommodate collectibles, vases and sculptures that set them apart from other furnishings, yet with the right placement will bring each piece together. In multiples, they can be grouped to create a dramatic arrangement. It was not acceptable back then to refer to body parts in polite conversation, for example one would not refer to furniture legs!
